Did you know there’s a special day to spoil your dog? On August 10 dog lovers have one dedicated day to go out of their way to shower their pups with even more love than they have done the other 364 days of the year.
And we’re on board with that!
In fact, one of the reasons guests love staying at Sea Ranch Abalone Bay is how welcoming we are to their dogs.
Our dog was also very happy, and we appreciated the dog amenities
One guest even proclaimed Abalone Bay as a “Dog Lovers Paradise!”
Excellent location for taking your dog on walks on the cliff trails. Trails are right outside of the home. The house is well equipped for dogs and people. It has a closed in area where dogs can play without being on a leash.
We take great joy in spoiling our doggy guests at our Sea Ranch home, Abalone Bay. Beyond the amenities our human guests receive, their fur-babies are greeted with welcome treats, poop bags, food/water bowls, furniture covers, and loaner leashes. Our enclosed courtyard provides our doggy-guests an opportunity to play unleashed in a protected area.

1. Take Your Dog on a Trip
Below is a gallery of our past doggy guests as shared by their owners while staying at Abalone Bay over the years:
As owners of dogs ourselves we truly appreciate our guests desire to assure there pet is well taken care of, especially while traveling with dogs. Over the years we’ve traveled both short and long distances with our pets. Pictured below is our first trip flying with our Vizsla, Ana and her sister Izzy. We found that Petmate Sky Kennel Pet Carrier was a great option for their travel and for crating while on the road.
While we lived in Chile both our dogs enjoyed the comfort of their “portable dog house.” We also found that by crating our dogs they were much happier having their own familiar space where ever they landed. It continues to be a recommendation of ours that you also crate your dog when visiting new locations such as our vacation rental.
Traveling with Your Small Dog

While our Maltese, Samson, was still with us, we found that a Sherpa’s soft sided wheeled small dog carrier was way to go!

We loved his Sherpa carrier for its convenience of its detachable pull handle. The pull strap handle easily converted into an adjustable shoulder strap. This offered me the benefit of transforming easily the rolling carrier into a pet tote or a duffel bag. With its airline approved soft sides, it easily slipped under the seat ahead of me. He was able to move about in it comfortably. Later, when it was his nap time all I needed to do was to roll down the side flaps to offer him a break from the flurry of travelers around him.
Spoil Fido with His Own Travel Suitcase
While we provide a welcoming dog treats for your pet, you will still need to provide food for her stay. We usually just pack a large plastic container filled dry dog food measured our for our Ana’s stay at the Abalone Bay. It’s simple and works handily. And when the food is gone, we wipe it out and use it to back out any other items we need a carrier for.
However, for travel in style and and to assure you have all that you need Travel Bag Kits seems amazing! Not only are they airline approved, they are also durable, safe, water repellent, and leak proof. Furthermore they provide bowls made of silicone that are dishwasher safe. It makes for handy pitstops with Fido when on the road to Sea Ranch. The organizer kit also has space for not only food, water, treats, but also leashes, Frisbee, pet toys, and first-aid kit. Take it with you whether you travel afar, hike, enjoy outdoor activities, or just go to the park.
2. Dole Out Treats to Your Four-Footed Friend
On National Spoil Your Dog Day, you may be inclined to shower your pet with all sorts of goodies. We recommend you keep it healthy by adding in some natural treats like carrots, our Ana’s favored before or after dinner treat. Other options include salmon skin, or coconut oil. Be aware though, some human foods aren’t good for dogs. We recommend you always consult your veterinarian before sharing from your plate.
While staying at Abalone Bay, we welcome your pet with Redbarn Dog Treats.
We’re sure your pup will love Redbarn Dog Treats as much as our Ana does!

3. Plan Plenty of Dog Friendly Activities
Of course, all dogs love walks, and where better than along the many trails in The Sea Ranch while enjoying National Spoil Your Dog Day. Or consider, instead of walking around the block, you could take your dog to the dog park to socialize with other dogs while you walk. At Sea Ranch your pet will certainly enjoy our off-leash dog park. Not only will your pet enjoy a romp with new friends, you might make new friends with others who love dogs as much as you do!
If not at Sea Ranch check with your local parks to learn if they host dog-related events, especially on dog holidays. Or consider organizing your own dog party to get together with your dog-spoiling friends. Or how about planning a spa-day for your furry friends? While they may not necessarily enjoy a pedicure as much as you do, a bit of pampering and refreshing will surly be appreciated. It would also be a good time to assure that your pet is pest free.

4. Offer Up Loads of Love
Don’t forget that of all the dog-spoiling activities and treats to offer up the best is always love! In our case, Ana will be sure to remind us to give her a good belly rub and snuggle.

We also recommend that before you cuddle up on the couch for a movie marathon be sure to first put down a blanket to protect the furniture. We offer up a large waterproof blanket and small blanket for our pet guests. They also work well as a picnic blanket for both kids and your 4-legged family members.

Another great idea is to go down to the oceanfront…

or fill up a backyard kiddie pool if your dog loves to splash around.
No matter your dog’s favorite together-time remember when delivered with thought and care, it is sure to be enjoyed and appreciated for a long time!
