Directions to Sea Ranch, including directions to Sea Ranch Abalone Bay oceanfront vacation rental are posted below. The short version coming from below Mendocino County is make your way to Highway 1. Head north to Fort Ross/Timber Cove/Stewarts Point. Continue traveling north to The Sea Ranch about 5 miles (9 minutes). Turn on Headlands head west to the last street, Green Cove Dr. Turn Right (North). The house is just around the corner on the ocean /west side of the street.

Next to our home is an empty lot.If you are near it, you’ve gone too far. There is a cul de sac at the end of the road, which makes turn arounds easy.

All Roads Leading to Sea Ranch

As they said about Rome, we too have many roads to lead to Sea Ranch Abalone Bay. Well, actually, there’s only one road, Shoreline Highway. Officially it’s designated at State Route 1, but we know it as California Highway 1. It is the roadway that leads you to Abalone Bay, but there are many ways to arrive at that road.

Ordinarily, the directions to Sea Ranch that you will find listed on many of the internet maps and echoed by your GPS are considered the “official” direction way to get to Abalone Bay. For that reason, we have included them further below.

However, our tried, true, preferred, and easiest way to arrive from the south is listed first.

Because you will pick up the keys and welcome packet from our property management office in Gualala directions are also included.

Scenic Highway 1we have learned over the years there is an easier, less curvy (your children and pets will thank you) and slightly faster (as related to flow of traffic) way of arriving to Sea Ranch.

What is the travel time to Sea Ranch from San Francisco?

Estimated travel time is 2 hr 46 min (109.5 mi) via US-101 and CA-1 N

If traveling from the south we recommend…

First, make your way north to Highway 101 (see directions for Oakland/East Bay and San Francisco)
Continue north on Highway 1o1
DO NOT turn off at Petaluma (while it may be the shortest in milage and your GPS will insist upon it, we find the road is very, very curvy and filled with slow tourist traffic).
Then continue northward to Santa Rosa
Take River Road/Mark West exit from Highway 1
Be sure to turn left (west) at the turn signal onto River Road, continue over the overpass (crossing over Highway 1o1)
Then travel 18.5 miles on River Road as it borders the Russian River, through the redwoods.
Soon at Guerneville, it will turn into Highway 116.
Continue on Highway 116 towards Jenner
About 6 miles past the town of Duncan Mills, turn right onto Shoreline Highway 1
Then continue on Shoreline north to The Sea Ranch (31 miles)
Turn on Headland’s Reach, travel to the end of the road
Finally, turn right on Green Cove Drive go to the bend in the road -36905 Green Cove Drive is on the west/ocean side of the road.

What is the driving time from Santa Rosa to Sea Ranch?

Take Guerneville Road west to Highway 116.
Then turn right on Highway 116 and follow it to Guerneville (9.5 miles).
Next turn left at Highway 116/Main St./River Road in Guerneville, continue on Highway 116 (12 miles).
Finally, turn (slightly) right on Highway 1, continue north to The Sea Ranch (31 miles).
Turn on Headland’s Reach, travel to the end of the road

How far is Sea Ranch from San Francisco Int’l Airport?

Note these are the directions you’ll most frequently hear from the GPS. For that reason, they are included here. While the coastal road is very lovely, you may find it is slow-moving with many tourists and very curvy.

Follow I-280 North to 19th Avenue, through San Francisco.
Then take Highway 101 North across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Once across stay on Highway 101 North to Petaluma.
Take the East Washington Street exit.
Turn left onto East Washington Street, follow West through Petaluma.
Washington Street turns into Bodega Avenue, then Bodega Highway, then Highway 1.

Continue on Highway 1 to Bodega Bay Continue North on Highway 1 through the coastal town of Jenner.

What is the Estimated Drive From Sonoma County Airport to Sea Ranch?

Estimated drive time 1.5 hours

The airport offers direct flights on Alaska Airlines to Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego, and on Allegiant Air to Las Vegas, and Phoenix-Mesa.
First, head east on Airport Blvd.
Then turn right to stay on Airport Blvd.
Take US-101 south toward San Francisco
Next, take the River Road exit west toward Guerneville/Russian River where it turns into Highway 116
Continue on Highway 116 past Duncan Mills heading to Jenner.
Turn right and follow Highway 1 North through the coastal town of Jenner.
Continue North on Highway 1

Follow I-80 West to Vallejo, exit Highway 37 West (right lane), past Six Flags/Marine World.
Continue West on Highway 37, past Infineon Raceway.
Turn right onto Lakeville Highway.
Follow Lakeville Highway North West to Petaluma.
Take Highway 101 North to Petaluma and take the 1st exit, East Washington Street.
