Need a Cooks Holiday?
You’ve packed up the kids, you packed up the dog and you’re on your way to holiday at Abalone Bay. But how do you make sure it’s a holiday for everyone, including the cook in the family?
Cooks Holiday Tips
1. Our kitchen’s amenities are fabulous!
Amenities for the chef |
It will be a cooks holiday whether you prepare food indoors or outside. Not only does Abalone Bay offer a list of cooking tools and appliances as long as your arm, including our Jenn Air Dual Fuel (gas, electric /convection) range, we also provide you with some of the basic staples to get you started when you first arrive. You’ll find a supply of spices, salt and pepper and Little Green Bean locally roasted coffee beans ready to be freshly ground.
And if you prefer to cook outside, you’ll enjoy grilling on our 4-burner (10,000 BTU’s each), stainless steel barbecue with a total of 52,000 BTU’s of heat-generating cooking power with electronic ignition and infinite setting control valves power a total of 646 square inches of cooking space.
Or consider having dinner catered while on vacation at Abalone Bay by calling in Leslie Bates of The Savory Coast Catering.
2. The family chef will love the fresh, organic local produce.
A cooks holiday includes having the best local ingredients on hand. Choose from two great markets in Gualala, located just 5 minutes up the road from Abalone Bay. Our favorite is Surf Market with its organic veggies.

Also available for your shopping pleasure is the Gualala Farmer’s Market open Saturdays and Sundays 9:30 -12:30 May through October. The variety there is wonderful including: local organic and natural fruits and vegetables, flowers, jams, breads, baked goods, coffee, olives, smoked fish, cheese, waffles, olive oil, eggs, condiments and seaweed products.
