Veterans Day Military Activities Presentation
Few remnants remain of World War II military activities which occurred in what became our Sea Ranch community. However, in honor of Veterans Day military activities captured in photos from Susan Clark’s book, “Images of America; The Sea Ranch” will be on display. Along with these wonderful photos will be maps and aerials from government documents. These artifacts show an interesting account of Sea Ranch’s involvement in the war.
The presentation will begin at 1:30 PM and conclude at 3:00 PM in the Ohlson Ranch House on November 11, 2017.
Pictured is a 1953 Army Corps of Engineers aerial of the former Del Mar Army Base building locations. Quotes from Ohlson family members, the owners of the Sea Ranch acreage during that time, and others give some rst-hand accounts of events they witnessed during the period, including Japanese balloon bombs and menacing submarine patrols off our coast.
