Walking Sea Ranch trails…
at a leisurely, comfortable pace, just right for conversation, observation…
and even a cup of coffee carried along with you, that’s how I recommend you begin your day at The Sea Ranch.
Leave the cardio for later
I’m not talking about that sweaty, winded, no time to stop and smell the lupin, redwoods, and count the whale spouts kind of cardio walk.
I’m referring to the kind of walk that reconnects you to place and people.
It’s the type of walk that makes you in awe of earth and heaven.
Leisurely walks along The Sea Ranch trails allow you to connect to the creatures below the trail,
to the creatures above, and
to all walking alongside you.
It’s the kind of walking enjoyed by many of those who live and visit The Sea Ranch, especially on Thursdays.

For more than 5o years, The Sea Ranch Association’s vision of being as respectful to the existing nature of this land as is humanly possible guides its Covenants and Conditions and Restrictions (commonly referred to as the CC&Rs).
We are proud to be a part of upholding and fulfilling this vision now and well into the future. Both homeowners and their guests must comply with those restrictions, which include the requirement to remain on the Association’s established trails only.

Any and all walking and hiking on The Sea Ranch property needs to be done only on the established trails, which are clearly defined by the trail markers and the Trails Map.
It is against the CC&R regulations to walk on any community land that doesn’t have an Association-created trail.

Bluff Trail outside Abalone Bay’s Backdoor
Sea Ranch Abalone Bay has the Bluff Trail, an Association-created trail right outside our home’s back door. However, if you happen to stay or visit a home without a trail next to it, then the appropriate action to take is to either walk along or drive the streets to the nearest trail marker that guides you to the Association-created trails.
Different Sea Ranch Trails for different purposes
Trails have been designed for specific usage. You’ll discover most trails will accommodate a leisurely walk.
There are also specialized trails designed for bicycles and horseback riding. By looking at the trail marker you’ll be able to easily determine if the trail is approved for either.
For the most part bike riding is allowed on the streets and the trails along Highway 1. It is never allowed along the delicate Bluff Trail.
This is one big part of the purpose of The Sea Ranch, to live lightly on the land. Honoring the requirement to only walk and hike on the designated trails is a major dimension of respecting this vision.
