Ocean-to-Table Dinner

Need A Vacation Rental That Caters to Abalone Divers and Fishing Enthusiasts?

Carol Kozal, the author of the blog, The Sea Ranch Life, visited Abalone Bay, where she met my husband, Jorge Martinez and his longtime friend Doug Jung. She and her husband  Pau Kozal, are a couple of our favorite Sea Ranchers. It is his photographic artwork that you will find gracing our walls.

Below with permission is Carol’s account of last night:

Catch of the day-Ling Cod

We’ve all heard about farm-to-table dinners but what about ocean-to-table dinners? Last night I had the good fortune to go along with my husband, Paul, to deliver one of his photographs to a client in Sea Ranch.

Upon arrival, Jorge, the owner of Abalone Bay, offered us a tour of the home and then invited us to join him and his friend Doug for the catch of the day – ling cod – which was caught literally in the backyard, the Pacific Ocean.

What a feast – fish head soup, ceviche, and grilled ling cod, crusty bread, paired with a nice glass of Chilean red wine. I especially enjoyed hearing about Jorge and Doug’s diving and fishing adventures right here in Sea Ranch as that is something I have never attempted in all the years I’ve lived here.

If you’re looking for a rental in Sea Ranch that caters to abalone divers, fisherman and enthusiasts of the great outdoors, this is worthy of your consideration. Donna, the homeowner, keeps an active blog and Facebook page for the home with lots of info and reviews.

If you’d like to have your own ocean-to-table experience at Sea Ranch consider renting Abalone Bay, invite some friends that like to fish or dive, bring some wine and enjoy.

Oh, did I mention there is even a fish cleaning station at this vacation rental home? This could really come in handy for the catch of the day.
