This location has historically been a community gathering place located in Anchor Bay Village when it was known as the Blue Canoe until it’s original owners retired. Today White Cap continues to be a source of excellent coffee, tea, ice cream and pastries. The list of their offerings covers two very large blackboards and includes all of the regular and irregular offerings of any respectable coffeehouse. You can sit inside or outside in the enclosed garden and you can bring your own book or read one of theirs. Restaurants in Point Arena (21 miles North of Abalone Bay)
New to Point Arena is Bird Cafe and Supper Club.
Word on the street is it has pretty good food offerings with a small but good local wine list. They may be working out some kinks as a start up.. but looks promising. If you go be sure to give us your report!
Looking for a great place to enjoy dinner and movie? Try Uneeda Eat right next door to Point Arena’s historic movie theater. Owners Jill and Rob Hunter offer a daily changing menu of fresh locally sourced ingredients. They describe their food as “bold and rustic California cuisine with Euro-Asian elements.” It’s truly excellent!
Due to it’s small location, reservations are strongly recommended. Small tables for parties of 2 are along a back wall bench and within the room. There are a few tables for four. We have sampled their duck plate, rabbit plate and steak plate. DELICIOUS!
Beginning March 2016 they will be serving pizza made in their newly installed wood burning pizza oven.
A word to the wise
- They show old movies on the wall that may affect your dining pleasure. Shown on our visit was the Incredible Shrinking Man. As our food was served up an oversized spider was about to dine on the hero. The good news – he got a way and we had a great meal timed perfectly to scoot next door for a movie.
- There are no hamburgers served on their diner menu- to the chagrin of our son. But he’ll be back for Pizza!
- Bring cash or your checkbook. Credit cards are not accepted. Meals range from $20 -$30. Salads range from $10- $15

Franny’s offer an endless melange of baked goods, both sweet and savory, for breakfast, lunch and of course, dessert, all of which are made at the bakery every morning. Donut Fridays promise a new donut every Friday morning, announced via their Facebook Page. They make their own chocolates, such as our salt caramels, truffles and pate de fruit, in addition to carrying a colorful range of candies from all our favorite companies. They serve Uncommon Grounds coffee and Espresso from Berkeley and Harney & Sons tea and chai, and an alarming amount of people seem to be addicted to their spicy Mexican mochas! Since our shop is so small, all items are carry-out. Franny’s also offers monthly brunches throughout the spring and summer, as well as birthday cakes and wedding cakes by special order.
